We were blessed with nice weather, seven pilots and planes, excellent ground staff and volunteers, and a great bunch of kids who wanted to fly! Please take a look at the pictures in the Gallery below, and we look forward to the next time. Special thanks to David Leiting, the person in charge of EAA Young Eagles program, for his guidance and help on site as EAA Coordinator.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to our fund drive last Fall for these important and impactful programs. We were able to approve the initial funding for flight training of three local high school students or recent grads, and all three are making GREAT PROGRESS in pursuing their private pilot's license at PilotSmith in Green Bay. PilotSmith is a Part 141-compliant flight school that follows a curriculum that directly prepares students for progression to Commercial and ATP endorsements, and all three of our students are interested in this career path!
Please consider this opportunity to directly and positively affect a local student interested in a career in aviation or an aviation-related career (we need more A&P mechanics too!). Any amount of donation is welcome, and all donations are completely tax deductible - receipts provided. We will be continuing our interaction with the High Schools in the area this Spring.
Late last Fall, we were able to complete the landscaping for an area for overnight camping (tents only) for our visiting Pilots and Passengers. This is located on the North side of the North tie-down apron, we are hoping to see the new grass springing up soon. We will be placing a picnic table, garbage can and fire extinguisher at the site, and visitors will be required to register in the Friends building. We appreciate the members who made this come together, and we are hoping to use this as a gathering place for visitors and our members in the future.
